Hello
For over 30 years the Battye family have been doing a fine job of running the Waggon & Horses in Langsett.

We have become well known for our freshly prepared food, real ale and real fire. With grand views from the garden overlooking Langsett reservoir and the Pennine moors. This comfortable and relaxing inn, built in 1809 of Yorkshire stone, is a grade 1 listed building and set in a most scenic and attractive location. We pride ourself on our good character, friendly service and of course traditional country pub ambience - a welcoming bar, we don't have any nasty fruit machines or piped music, we prefer cards, dominos, a good pint, homely food and the hum of conversation.... a real pub.

Dear Waggon and Horses ...
My wife and I visited you with two very good friends on Thursday (29 May) for a lunch which I was assured would be a quality event. I was in no way disappointed.

I cannot speak for the quality of my wife's or my friends wife's meals because I did not sample them, but the steak pie that us two men of the party ate was, without doubt, the best that I have ever tasted.

Unfortunately this means that I have had to ask my wife not to make steak pie any more because I do not want her to struggle for the rest of her natural to try and meet, and fail to meet, the level of perfection that your pie has achieved. That is now the standard by which I shall judge all others. Since I live in Cornwall, the opportunities for me to sample your pies again are limited. But no matter. I have that wonderful memory.
Thank you.
