1st: Pratty Flowers: Holmfirth’s Anthem, ‘Pratty Flowers’ is captured here and show as a work in progress, filmed entirely on location around the Holme Valley. The director is looking for local people who would be happy to be filmed as part of this ongoing documentary.

2nd: Cuckoo: This experimental dance film explores the representation of the body as a mirror image, a reflection, as another. With a haunting Sigur Ros soundtrack the film takes viewers on a journey of shifting landscapes made from shimmering bodies.

3rd: Fort Vale: Heavy engineering in Lancashire. Inspired by the “Night Train”, a 1960’s public information film commissioned by the Royal Post Office about the mail train, this film has been made for inclusion in a CDrom.

05 and 06 March 2004... the 2nd Langsett Film Festival... billed as an evening of contemporary film, interactive media and new music ... this year we had open submission of films that fell into the following categories: HORROR, DANCECULTURE and COMMERCIAL the number of submissions were over whelming.

Our programme of 10 films shown on both nights was warmly recieved by a great audience - thanks -The organisers thank everyone who participated whether you entered a film or sat in the audience.

This year we had a best film prize voted for by the audience, if you were wondering, the voting broke down like this:

Pratty Flowers. Director: Tim Copsey (94)
Cuckoo. Director: Igloo (91)
Fort Vale. Director: Empty (84)
WarnerEMI. Director: Bruno Martelli (83)
Angie. Director: Ruth Gibson (79)
Wagen. Director: Joe Tomlinson (78)
Late Nite Session. Director: Andy Wicks (72)
Control. Director: Alex Hislop (60)
Blackout Zones. Director: Mark Bruce (56)

(The Intermission film got 15!). Altogether around 70 people attended and 27 voted.

The first "Langsett prize for film" awarded to "Pratty Flowers" a work in progress about the Holmfirth Anthem by Tim Copsey, will sit proudly behind the bar once it has been engraved and will be subsequently awarded each year to the film that the audience likes best. But it isn't all about winning - congratulations should be given to Joe Tomlinson who was the highest placed amateur film-maker. And to Alex Hislop for his prolific output at such an early age - here's to a promising career and don't forget us when you get to L.A!
